Mt Nemrut and Mt Süphan climbing tour
Day 1: transfer from Van airport to the hotel. After lunch, we visit Van castle. Returning to the city, you will have some free time before we meet for dinner.
Day 2: Leaving Van, we are heading West towards Tatvan. On the way we stop to visit the Armenian Church of the Holy Cross on Akdamar island. Pressing on with our journey, further to the West, we reach Tatvan. After lunch, we head for the crater lakes of Mt Nemrut (3050). The campsite is near the hot springs. You can enjoy the enchanting views in the gentle evening and early morning lights, providing an excellent photo opportunity as well.
Day 3: We start with a short climb to the ridge of the crater to watch the sun rise. Then, we continue our journey along the shores of Lake Van to North-East. After a short stop at Ahlat for the Seljuk cemetry, the view of Mt Süphan will dominate the horizon. We go to the campsite at 2600m. We pitch tents and hot dinner will be served.
Day 4: start ascent at 2 am to the summit (4050m, 5 hours). We return to the campsite and after some rest we travel back to Van, where our tour finishes.
Included in the price: all transportation, all meals, tea, water (other soft drinks and alcohol not included), hotel accommodation for 1 night in double rooms (2-star hotel)*, guide, cook, tent, mat, sleeping bag
Necessary equipment: backpack for the equipments and clothes, day-bag for the hikes, hiking boots, head lights, warm and waterproof clothes, pocket knife, sun glasses. If you bring your own sleeping bag, choose a good 3-season one (0°C). Weather may be chilly at 4200m, and you can expect temperatures between 0 and -15°C on the summit.
